How to do the perfect yarn haul

If you are a crocheter , knitter or anything that uses yarn , then you probably LOVE going on yarn hauls. The dopamine and happiness you get from buying yarn and unboxing yarn or just looking at some new yarn you bought is something every crocheter or knitter can relate to. But , how can you plan the perfect yarn haul , getting the most out of your money and making sure nothing goes to waste. Also an important note , this is only for people who do not own a business , if you do , you probaby wont be helped by this blog.

1. The golden ratio of yarn hauls

The perfect ratio for going on a yarn haul is 70% yarn for pre planned projects , 20% for backup stash and 10% for dopamine buys .

An example of this is , If I am going on a yarn haul then

11 skeins for preplanned projects

7 skeins backup

3 really pretty skeins that you just wanted to buy.

With this , you will get the most out of your yarn haul and will have a balance of spontaenity and planning

2. When to go on a yarn haul

You should ideally go on a yarn haul when you have 0 - 7 skeins of yarn.  I know this will come as a shocker , but otherwise you will never finish your yarn and a huge amount will be wasted. You should also go on yarn hauls when there are mega sales or clearances as you are saving money in the longterm.

3. How much to spend on a yarn haul

I think the budget should be from 20 - 40 dollars as atleast where I live, you can get 23 skeins for that amount. Social media makes it normal to spend hundreds of dollars but it isn't normal for a hobby.
